Redneck Lipstick History
So Bobby the BBQ King shared with us recently the story behind Redneck Lipstick. All credit is being given to his father who created the recipe. But the ingredients were never revealed to anyone. As his dad just loved to barbeque and share the experience of gathering around the grill with family and friends. Clearly he enjoyed sharing his great skills, barbequing tips and techniques. Just would not share the secret recipe ingredients. Maybe thinking it would diminish his growing gatherings, if they could make the secret sauce themselves.
As time passed and even Bobby had to return home to pick up some jars of sauce while in college. He persistently kept asking his father for the recipe. Finally a few years later his father relented and passed over the recipe. Of course Bobby was ecstatic as he had become very passionate about his barbeque skills too.
Barbeque Southern Roots
As a result of many southern states having a long tradition of barbeque the moniker “redneck” is one of respect. Because it does not matter what southern state claims to have the best barbeque, they are all right!! By using the hardwoods associated with their neck of the woods each has a flavor all their own. Along with the time honored traditions of family recipes, favorite seasonings, smoking, grilling techniques, personally I love them all.
